The Upsilon Iota Sigma chapter stands as a beacon of professional excellence and lifelong brotherhood. Our unique approach combines traditional values with contemporary professional networking, creating a robust ecosystem where alumni thrive through shared commitment to scholarship and community upliftment. We are defined by our rigorous standards and our unwavering dedication to the professional success of every brother.

Our History

Building a Legacy of Brotherhood, Scholarship, and Service
The Upsilon Iota Sigma Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. was chartered on April 17, 2024, to serve the communities of Douglasville and Douglas County, Georgia. Established by a dedicated group of visionary brothers, the chapter was founded with a shared commitment to expanding the Fraternity's impact through leadership, service, and meaningful community engagement.
While our chapter is young, our foundation is built upon the rich heritage of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., which has been developing leaders and serving communities since its founding at Howard University in 1914. Guided by the Fraternity's principles of Brotherhood, Scholarship, and Service, Upsilon Iota Sigma proudly carries forward the motto:

"Culture For Service and Service For Humanity."
From the very beginning, our mission has been clear—to create lasting change through service, leadership, mentorship, and community partnerships that strengthen the lives of those we serve throughout Douglas County and the surrounding areas.

Upsilon Iota Sigma exists to bring together professional men who are committed to making a positive and lasting impact. Through collaboration, innovation, and servant leadership, we strive to develop programs that empower individuals, support families, and inspire future generations.
Our work focuses on creating opportunities through:

  • Educational achievement and scholarship

  • Youth mentorship and leadership development

  • Community service and social action

  • Economic empowerment and financial literacy

  • Civic engagement and voter education

  • Health and wellness initiatives

  • Support for local businesses and community partnerships

Every initiative reflects our commitment to creating measurable, sustainable change while remaining true to the values that have defined Phi Beta Sigma for more than a century.

Our Purpose

A Growing Legacy

Since receiving our charter, Upsilon Iota Sigma has continued to grow in both membership and community impact. Our brothers represent diverse professions, experiences, and backgrounds, united by a common purpose—to use our talents, leadership, and resources in service to others.

As our chapter expands, so does our dedication to excellence. We continually seek opportunities to strengthen relationships with schools, civic organizations, faith-based institutions, businesses, and local leaders to address the evolving needs of our community.

Our goal is not simply to host events—it is to build meaningful programs, foster lifelong relationships, and create a lasting impact that extends far beyond our membership.

The future of Upsilon Iota Sigma is driven by a vision of continuous growth, innovation, and service. We are committed to becoming a premier graduate chapter within the Southern Region of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. by delivering impactful programming, cultivating exceptional leaders, and serving our community with integrity and purpose.

Every service project, mentorship opportunity, scholarship initiative, and community partnership contributes to a legacy that future generations of brothers will continue to build upon.

Although our history began in 2024, our vision reaches far into the future. We believe that the true measure of a chapter is not its age, but the positive difference it makes in the lives of others.

Looking Ahead

“Brotherhood is not just a title; it is the unwavering commitment to excellence and the lifelong bonds that define our legacy.”
